Willow Brook Farm

Our goal is to have a well rounded student and horseman. Capable, confident and successful partners with their horses. Our emphasis is on quality and safety. We take a kind, patient approach with every rider and horse. All levels of riders are welcome but we are known for and specialize in starting young riders. Students range in age and experience from beginners on the lunge line to teenagers and adults. Keeping safety in mind, we start all beginners with a half hour private lesson. As students progress in fundamental skills, group lessons are available. We own all of our lesson horses and ponies. We believe every rider should be matched to a horse that is appropriate for them and we do not over mount children on large horses- young riders will start their riding experience on one of our many ponies.

ABC Spanish

Incorporates practical, useful and fascinating topics to engage children and immerse them fully in Spanish. Curriculum includes subjects such as colors, numbers, shapes, routines and commands, among others. It also includes themes unique to Latin America, such as Latin rhythms, foods, countries, animals, etc. The academic year is divided in four trimesters. We recorded music for each season that includes original compositions as well as interpretations of classic childcare’s songs of the Spanish-speaking world.

Jiu-Jitsu classes, beginner – advanced. The principle of maximum efficient use of power is the foundation of Judo. Power, in this sense means both mental and physical power. Simply put, it means to make the most efficient use of your and the opponents power – against him utilizing leverage and off-balancing, together with your opponent’s size, strength, and momentum, to throw him to the ground. Unlike Karate, Judo does not use any kicks or punches.

Newton Girls’ Lacrosse season officially opens March 29, 2016 with practices on turf at Dexter/Southfield School and the West Suburban YMCA. The first week in April we will move from the turf to our new home at Weeks Field in Newton. Weekly practices for all age groups will be Monday and Wednesday from 6-7 pm at Weeks. Our girls will play games on Sundays. The home field for teams at the 1/2 and 3/4 grades age groups will be Cold Spring Park. The home field for teams at the 5/6 and 7/8 age groups will be the turf either at Newton North or Newton South High School.

For Kids and Teens. Our classes cultivate invaluable life skills while strengthening and stretching young bodies through joyful movement. Classes give kids and teens the space and opportunity to explore awareness, mindfulness and the ability to self-soothe when things get rocky. The emphasis is on having fun, moving well, and settling into the body and breath. Partner and group yoga help to teach important skills of connection and cooperation. Nurturing rest, relaxation and meditation exercises to help kids feel calm, confident and secure. Yoga classes also provide a safe haven during times of stress and change where kids and teens can tune into their inner strength and discover what calm feels like. We believe that children are capable of receiving the benefits of yoga in a very profound way.
