Have you heard about Spring Cleanout Swap Day? Can I tell you this makes my heart beat just a little bit faster? I love to declutter (no tchotchkes for me, thank you!) but I especially feel good when I’m not adding my unwanted junk to a landfill.
Newton’s Swap Day is a semi-annual affair and is held at the Rumford Ave Recycling Depot in Auburndale. Participation is restricted to Newton residents only (IDs required). This is your opportunity to swap your unwanted but still usable items for other peoples’ stuff. Or you can simply drop off or pick up. It’s really your call.
Now’s the time to clean out your closets, basement, attic and garage. You can drop off pretty much anything that is usable, non-toxic, non-hazardous and clean with certain very important exceptions.
* NO computer monitors
* NO televisions
* NO mattresses
* NO couches
Drop off is only allowed between 8am and noon. And hey, if you’re going there anyway, why not bring your other recycling?
They accept the following at the Depot:
* Fluorescent bulbs and other mercury-containing items
* Cell phones, all printer cartridges, CDs, DVDs
* Paper, cardboard, glass, metal, stiff plastic bottles (#1 – 7)
* Dead rechargeable batteries
When: Saturday, April 29th, 2017 @ 8AM – 2PM (item drop-off until Noon)
Where: Recycling Depot, 115 Rumford Avenue (off Lexington Street in Auburndale) Website: newtonma.gov/recycling
