It’s been a long time coming, but it’s here! Finally. The city of Boston has organized a event to celebrate the winter holidays. The new “Boston Winter” takes over City Hall Plaza through February 28, 2017. The following are some of the activities you can enjoy while visiting Boston Winter!
Lace up your skates and show off your best moves at Boston Winter’s Skating Path, Boston’s first ever custom-designed skating venue weaves around the main stage and marquee Boston sign. Cost: $8-10/person. Children under 5 are free. Skate rentals: $6/pair. Saturday skating lessons are also available in January & February. Visit the site for details and to register.
Boston Winter’s Holiday Market brings together more than 40 specialty retailers and artisans from New England and beyond so you can shop to your heart’s content.
Après skate! The Urban Lodge, Boston’s latest and greatest beer hall, is the spot for friends and family to gather and enjoy each other’s company after a long skate. Enjoy beer, wine, non-alcoholic refreshments, food and good company in the lodge.
Take a picture with Santa in the home he shares with Mrs. Claus and his elves. Santa’s interactive app allows visitors of all ages to determine if they were “naughty or nice” and deserving of presents this holiday season.
The Chocolate Story is an educational and delicious journey into chocolate as told by Santa’s elves. Learn about the origins of chocolate and explore the true craft of chocolate creation from the cacao tree to the sweet treat we all love! Interactive games for children will bring to life the history of chocolate, from original recipes to manufacturing inventions that made mass production possible.
Chocolate tastings run approximately 30 minutes. Tastings are organized on a first-come, first-served basis and include 5 unique chocolates and either a cup of hot chocolate or apple cider. Cost: $40/family pass.
London’s beloved wine exhibit has made its way across the pond to Boston, inviting wine enthusiasts to embark on a journey from grape to glass. Visitors can learn from sommeliers and wine pros all about wine production, while experiencing wines across different regions of the world. Participate in an essential class (5 wines) or masterclass (additional wines included) or assess your wine profile using our interactive app.
