Hidden Gem: L’Aroma Cafe & Bakery
A part of me hopes you can find it, a part of me doesn’t. Tucked away in West Newton is L’Aroma Cafe, a friendly, family-run cafe that boasts to-die-for scones (they go quick!), Sri Lankan curry lunches (made by one of the owners who creates this specialty from memory), *fantastic* coffee (of course), and a wide array of teas. The warmth of the owners is also evident in their baristas and all the other staff members who greet you with a smile and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Rarely is there room to spread out in a coffeehouse, but that’s not the case at L’Aroma. On the first floor are several high top tables reserved for customers who are socializing, though electronics are not allowed in this section of the cafe (no laptops or loud talking on your cell!). But upstairs there are two large sections – one with comfy chairs, on which you can relax and chat with a friend or use your laptop. And if you need to have space and focus on your work, homework, emails, whatever, you can sit in the far back room that offers two long tables.
Finally, L’Aroma also has an events room available to private parties. It’s a terrific, open space perfect for parties, group meetings or pop-up shops. They also offer several free five-minute parking spaces for anyone just popping in to grab a coffee (and pastry?) to go.
I know you’ll enjoy this hidden gem as much as I do.
